About Us

Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue is an all volunteer, foster-based, 501 (c)(3), non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of abused, neglected, and at-risk Beagles and Beagle mixes.

TBBR Beagles live in our foster families' homes - promoting a safe, nurturing environment where they can decompress and feel at home. We provide preventative medical care as well as medical care for the sick, injured, and elderly Beagles. Beagles who were severely neglected and abused are rehabilitated so they can learn to trust and love people.

When the TBBR beagles are ready, our adoption counselors ensure that each beagle is adopted to the right family and environment. It is imperative to our organization to place Beagles with special needs - including older Beagles or those with on-going medical problems - into good homes.

Our Mission
We are an all volunteer, foster-based, 501(c)(3), non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abused, neglected and at-risk Beagles and Beagle mix dogs. We endeavor to reduce pet overpopulation by educating the public and spaying/neutering all of our dogs prior to adoption. We are a continuing source of information to the community on the behavior and special qualities of the Beagle breed.
Purpose

  • To rescue abandoned, abused, neglected and at-risk Beagles and Beagle mixes.
  • To rehabilitate and care for the Beagles until they can be adopted into permanent, loving homes.
  • To help Beagle owners understand how to train and care for a rescued dog and to prevent common behavior problems.
  • To reduce pet overpopulation through education and by spaying/neutering all dogs prior to adoption.

History
In 1999, Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue began as a simple effort when Betty Roberts, the founder and former president, helped a single Beagle in need. Over the next few years, she began to help rehome stray and abandoned Beagles with the help of one or two volunteers. In 2003, a group of volunteers made a commitment to save Beagles and organized the Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue Inc. into a nonprofit organization.

With the amazing support from our volunteers and the community, we grew the number of adoptions from 54 beagles in 2003 to over 200 beagles in 2016!!!!! Our volunteers and foster families are located throughout the State of Florida, and our Beagles have been adopted by families all around Florida. We are continually striving to help more Beagles, but we need the help of dedicated volunteers and foster homes to accomplish our goals!
